C-TEC Solar saves Vernon apartment complex more than $10,000 annually on its energy costs with a solar thermal hot water system

The apartment-renting business can be very competitive. Management companies continually look to lower expenses without compromising services. Pat Keane, Director of Operations for Hillside Terrace Apartments in Vernon, Connecticut knows this all too well. “Many apartments in the area use natural gas, a less expensive fuel, to heat their hot water. We were using oil and the rapidly rising costs were making it more difficult for us to compete,” explained Keane.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony planned

Hillside Terrace Apartments has received its certificate of occupancy from the town and has met all State requirements. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for the end of May. Federal, state and local officials as well as the media will be invited to get a firsthand look at the system.
